Opens. Opens sit on the weakest rung. (Provider-reported. Apple prefetch can be marked. Other machine opens cannot be separated.)
Clicks. Clicks are recorded by the link router. (A security scanner or a forward can record a click.)

Poll vote. A poll vote is stored against the contact. (A deliberate recorded action. Not proof of one person, one vote.)

What happens to an issue

1. Approval
An editor approves the issue. The scheduler sends it only after that approval.
2. Signals
Provider open events, link-router clicks, the bottom image request, poll votes, and replies are stored separately.
3. Reading them
An open is the weakest signal and can be a machine. A click can include a scanner. The bottom image is a load, not scroll depth. A poll vote is a deliberate recorded action, not proof of one person.
4. Profiles
Where Contact Intelligence is on, a synopsis is generated from recorded history. Topics and stances are model inferences. They do not search the list.

What you can use

Approval before send, then the signal ladder. Later activity in a window is since the send, not caused by it.
Customer Intelligence
A profile synopsis from recorded engagement. Managed onboarding. Not a self-serve switch, and not a claim that names or emails are withheld from the model.
Audience Intelligence
Topic ranking across profiles that already have a synopsis. Explorer filters use list fields. Topic bars do not open a search.
Consent and deliverability
Import attestation, opt-outs, bounces, and pause sit in front of a send. The page does not certify the list.

A good fit when

You send a newsletter and want the signals kept apart.
Someone on the team can approve an issue before it goes.
You can set up the sender domain and the list with help, rather than expecting an instant import.

Not a replacement for every sending tool

It does not import historical engagement on its own.
It does not prove a person read the issue.
It does not search the audience by an inferred topic.
